A weekend FULL of SWIMMING

Where did the weekend go?  There are some weekends that just NEED to be longer.  Seems that sometimes you just don't have enough time!  Anyhoo...

Tuesday Night Meet between the raindrops
The swim team season is OFFICIALLY over :-(  Madison did VERY well and is already looking forward to next year. She made many new friends, as you will see in the pictures!

Swim Championship
Friday night was the prep rally...lots of carbs and a social hour was what it turned into.  Lots of great food and the kids got to make posters to hang when at the Championship.

Making posters
Saturday morning was an EARLY start.  Check out the hair!

How am I going to run a brush through that?
Time for the Championship.  Madison swam her little heart out! The picture below shows how you keep track of what kid is doing what. The numbers on her shoulder is the event she swims...the Go Otters is just showing her team some love :-) Her other shoulder has her name on it so everyone knows who she is.
Waiting her turn

There she goes...

Always smiling when in the water...I'm
surprised her mouth doesn't hurt.

Sunday morning was Y-U-C-K-Y!!!  Thought for sure the pool party was going to be inside but as you can see, the weather cleared and it was a beautiful afternoon for a pool party.  What a great way to celebrate a FANTASTIC season!!!  Great job little one.  You've done really well and we look forward to many more years of swim meets!!! We love you very much!!!

The whole team...Madison is the first row,
third over from left with her feet in the water

Trophy and ribbons...nothing better than that
This week we've been resting up the best we can since FIRST GRADE starts MONDAY!

Last picture...this one is for Madison.  She didn't think it was fair that everyone got to see her messy hair so she messed up mine and took a picture... :-)

Holy Cow!

Swimming on Thursday was cancelled due to thunderstorms and torrential downpours in the area. There is a good and a bad when it comes to a canceled swim meet.  Good that the kids get a little bit of a break. Bad because mommy hadn't planned dinner for Thursday night! We tend to eat dinner at the pool. SO...we HAD to go out....and I'm glad we did!!!

On the way home, the storm had passed.  It was only lightly raining.  As we drove past one of the barns we drive past ALL the time, I happen to see a farmer outside feeding his six week old calves.  We stopped to checked them out and he was more than happy to show off his "newborns"!

Whatcha got there?

I think she likes it

This is pretty cool

Oh come on!  You taste SO good!!!

YUMMMMMYYYYY
As you can see, they suckle EVERYTHING!  The one in the last picture followed the man around the WHOLE time with the mans fingers in her mouth!

Thank goodness for a swim meet cancel.  That was AWESOME...made our evening!!!!

4th of July 2014

With the Hurricane Arthur hanging off our coast, the 4th of July activities were up in the air for most of the start of the weekend.  Here in Garner, they have the fourth activities on the third.  The plan was to go but not sure if they were still having them.  So there were no REAL fireworks for Madison this year.  On the 4th, we hung out with Lisa and her family.  Had a "blast'!!!

Sporting the Old Navy T-shirts
Now that Arthur has moved outta here, he left behind a beautiful weekend.  Took Madison to the park to teach her how to ride her bike w/o training wheels.

Holding onto Madison

Deep in thought as to how to get out of this!!!

Daddy teaching her how it's done

Trying on a hard surface
Needless to say, she did not learn to do it today but we'll keep trying.  Shouldn't take too long. We'll try again very soon.  Madison did well but just couldn't master it as quickly as she was hoping.

Just had to share

Check out the picture of Madison on the first day of school...

Wearing the same outfit the last day of school...

Whoa...what a week!

I started this over a week ago and a half ago.  Due to time constraints, I'll keep this one short!

Sunday...Mom and Dad were here over the weekend.  We went out for breakfast for something different.

Tuesday...Madison's teacher (Ms. Jones) stopped by to see our little fish swim at competition!

Thursday...A notice was sent home that one of Madison's Kindergarten Art Projects was on display at the local NC State Employee Credit Union.  Had to stop by to check it out.  Jeff is pointing to the birdhouse that is hers.  Not quite sure what she is doing. ;-)

Friday was the last day of school.  There was a little happy and a little sad all at the same time.  It's been over a week since she's been out of school and with swimming four nights a week it sure is a much needed break!

Madison and Alli waiting for the bus

Jeff waiting to give Madison a big hug as she got off the bus
Friday...Swim clinic.  Two hours of swimming with a world champion.  Not too shabby for a small little neighborhood pool!  She's the tall blonde with the shirt on in the middle.

Sunday...Don't all little girls look this fancy when they are playing ball with their dog?

Swim Practice Turns into Swim Team!

We know that Madison LOVES to swim but how would she do on a swim team?  That is the question we needed to answer.  To test "the waters"...for lack of a better phrase, we signed her up for swim camp.  She did really well and looked forward to being in the pool almost everyday.

What fish wouldn't want to do that!

But how would she do at "racing"?  We signed her up for the swim team hoping that being in the water for four days a week would keep her motivated and that she could handle adults yelling...I mean, loudly talking...supporting her, as she made her way down the lanes.  Luckily she had her friend Emily there to get her through the process...

Madison's first races
To keep track of everyone, they write your name and your races on you.  Another selling point for Madison...go figure.  This is Eric (Emily's brother) doing a photo bomb on Madison...

Not sure why there is a frown

Preparing for her first time in the water

And she's off
Coming in on her final race
She LOVED it!!!!

Surf City Here We Come!!!

What do you do when one night for a sleep over is just not enough?  You have a two night sleepover!!!

There was the normal Friday night routine...pool, pizza and a movie.

How do you top Friday night?  You take them to the beach!!!

And then you take them to a Sea Turtle Rehab Hospital!

1st..take a picture of the turtle's wound...

Then, take a picture of the man nice
enough to hold up the injured turtle!
You can never be surprised but what you see at the beach.  Look closely at the black bag on the back of her bike.  Not only is there a dog in the back, but the dog is wearing goggles!!!

And the girls slept right through it all...

Almost right up the front door!

After a two hour "nap" they were wide awake and stayed up playing with Alli, catching fireflies, and making S'mores late into the night.  What a great weekend...needless to say they were both VERY tired the next day.
