It was everything we imagined and then some!!! Hard to believe that after nearly a year of planning that this day had finally arrived!!!!
The first family portrait!

Waiting in line for a ride
All that riding and walking around works up an appetite. The best way to satisfy a growling tummy is to watch a show at the Japanese Steak House! Watching the girls put away all that food makes you wonder where it all goes!
Later that afternoon we split up for a bit to be able to check out some different attractions. We checked out the Finding Nemo rides.
Hanging with the porcupine fish
Another porcupine fish
Stayed late that night to check out the fireworks.
We had been preparing Madison for some time that the trip down to Disney was not going to be an easy one. There were games, books, and movies packed.
Our first stop was South of the Border to meet up with Emma and her family and to get a quick breakfast.
Rain made the trip a little longer...especially though South Carolina, where just days later I-95 would be closed due to the roads washing away.
Removing a tree from I-95
Hours and hours passed and the girls had done so well. It wasn't until we hit the FL line that they started hitting a wall. Thank goodness it didn't take too long before they allowed sleep to take over.
Once we checked into the hotel for the night, it was time to prepare for our Disney adventure that would be starting early Sunday morning.
Its the weekend before leaving for Disney AND the weather forecast for the weekend was HORRIBLE!
It would have been a pass under any other circumstance and we would have stayed home BUT we couldn't pass up spending time with cousins!!!
Tunes and chips
The moment we walked in the door it was like they hadn't skipped a beat. The first round of games had begun. Check out those waves in the back ground!
Let the games begin
When staying at the beach, we always get up early to watch the sunrise. That was NOT going to happen this trip.
Sun is trying to break through
Checkers anyone?
With a brief break in the rain, it was time to take a walk on the beach.
Run Madison Run!
Sharing the love...
That afternoon Mackenzie wrote and produced a play. Her dad co-produced and helped the play come to life. Check out the video (remember you have to go to the website to see the video).
There was that possibility of seeing the sun on Sunday...but it was very short lived during the morning while we were there.
OBX 2015
Again, Madison couldn't wait to put her feet in the water and the water couldn't wait to grab her by the feet! But just splashing her was good enough.
The waves showing Madison who was boss
She went in and changed and told the waves to bring it on!
"Fight back Madison. You can beat the waves. I'm right beside you!"
Time went very quick this weekend. Miller and Bonny could almost run a bed and breakfast. Two groups out, one group in. Luckily we were all able to spend a little time with Mike and Patty before getting on the road.
Bonny, Miller, Patty, and Mike
A look forward...this will be us in just a few days as we make the road trip to Disney! Watch out Orlando...here we COME!!!!
Hard to believe the end of summer is just around the corner. We've gone all summer and not had a trip to the beach. With the weather being picture perfect and not too many more weekends left, this was the perfect day to go.
I'm sure many of you had read or heard about the many shark attacks that have happened on our coast this year. We're always mindful of her in the water but this visit it was so much nerve racking keeping an eye on her and making sure she didn't get too far out.
Boogie boarding
Evenings this weekend were perfect. The sign said STEAMED BLUE CRABS, the passenger in the car said, "Let's stop!"
Waiting for steamed crabs
Despite the anticipation of having crabs when she got home, she couldn't succumb to the power of sleep!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!
It all starts with box of crabs...
Ends with a pile of shells all over the table!!!! Oh so good!
Madison felt bad about her dad losing his sunglasses at the beach while boogie boarding with her that she drew him this picture.
And then who couldn't love a picture of a girl and her dog!
We haven't had much planned lately so I MIGHT be able get a few weeks of quick updates out to share what has gone on over the summer.
Just pay attention to the date in the posting and you'll see how far behind I am. This is the weekend before last.
I ran into work for a few hours in the morning. During this time, Jeff and Madison took the time to repair the door going out the garage that one furry friend had destroyed...no names mentioned...LUCY!!!
First you have to remove the door to be able to replace the screen...
Once the screen has been replaced and it's all snug, you put on the screen protector to keep paws from going through it!
And then you give the best "DONE!" pose possible!
Emma and her family finally got settled into their new home and had time to hang out again. We had our first fishing outing at Bass Lake. This lasted for about 20 minutes with the girls fishing.
The dad's took over and Jeff was the only one to catch a fish that day. Although, Madison has already learned how to tell a tall fish tale. If you ask her, she caught the fish!!!
Unfortunately we had to cut our afternoon short despite the play date going very well but who could pass up tickets to the local theater showing Shrek the Musical, Jr ?
