Atlantic Beach, Part 3: Sand Castles and Dunes

Letterboxing was on the agenda after leaving the beach.  It was another unsuccessful attempt to find the box. We tend to think someone lifted the clue since we found the cinder block the clue should have been sitting under in the creek!  By this time we were all getting hungry and Madison put a request in for her first favorite food, Chick-fil-A but that was rejected by me and Jeff.  Her second request was a burrito and THAT Jeff and I could go for!  So we scouted out the local Mexican place.  It wasn't long before we found one and we all had a really nice dinner out.  As you can imagine, we had a very tired little girl on our hands when we got back to the hotel on Saturday night.

Sunday morning came very quickly as it usually does.  This Sunday was better than most since we got to look out our window and see the sun shining on the water, the sounds of crashing waves and the smell of the salt air!!!

Madison and I sat out on the porch for a bit in the morning, watching for the school of porpoise that are often seen at the beach.  Sure enough!  They were out there.  She was still a bit to young to understand the concept of watching for them in the water.  It was a bit chilly in the morning but not nearly as cold as the morning before.  Jeff made a run for our morning coffee while Madison and I got packed up.  Unfortunately our weekend was slowly coming to a close.  But not before one last time on the beach!

Run, run, run

Boy do I have some stories to tell!

Mommy...watch me!
By this time Madison was so over having her picture taken.  The last few shots of the trip had to be taken when she wasn't looking.  She nicely asked me to put the camera away.  "No more pictures mommy!"  I just can't help myself.  There are so many picture opportunities while at the beach and I didn't want to miss a single one.
There was one last stop to make on the island.  That was to try to find one more letterbox.  There were only two on the island and neither of them were found by us.  The good thing about this stop was that Madison was able to slide and swing since there was a playground on site.  While swinging in the "baby swing" I thought for sure we were going to lose her.  She looked as if she could have fallen asleep while swinging.
We were on our way back to Raleigh around 11am or so and she was already ready for her nap.  We weren't on the road long before she just gave in to sleep.

Another wonderful weekend with our little girl!!!

We love you very much Madison!  Sweet dreams!  Hugs and Kisses!!!
