Most children get one day to celebrate their birthday. Madison's seemed to go on and on and on and on....you get the point. Nana and Papa arrived at their usual time at approximately 4pm on Thursday afternoon. I had taken the day off to get the cake finished before the house was descended upon and to get the last few things picked up in the house. Once again I worked right up to the minute and even forgot to eat lunch!!! The cake turned out nice and kept my fingers crossed that nothing happened to it from Thursday afternoon to Saturday. What could possibly happen you wonder?! With three cats, two children and adults always wanting to sneak a taste...well, enough said. Jeff made a fancy cover for it and we hid it out of site until Saturday!!! Here's what the cake looked like with all the decorations on it Saturday for the party.
A surprise was in store for Madison when she got home from daycare. She knew cousin Carson was coming for a visit but she just wasn't sure when. Carson was waiting for her when she got home. She was so tickled to see him! It didn't take long for Madison to warm up to Nana and she was telling her all about different things that have happened since she had seen her last. There was one gift that Nana JUST couldn't wait to give Madison and that was her tutu and butterfly wings!!!! Madison thought they were really cool but she just wasn't ready to spread her wings. It won't be long before she is wearing them everywhere!
It was a long day for everyone and knowing it was a long weekend ahead of us it was time for bed. There was no school for Madison the next day. She was staying home with mom, Nana, Papa and Carson.
