Active August Visit

Nana and Papa came for a visit over the weekend. It has been four months or so since they had seen Madison and they couldn't wait for us to make the trip to them. They arrived just in time for dinner on Wednesday night. Thursday was a day to relax after the long drive. That evening we were able to spend some time out on the deck to enjoy our brand new table and chairs! I took this picture of Madison being a drama queen. This is just one of those times she liked making faces for the camera.

Smile!
Friday we made the two hour trek to the beach to enjoy the sun and sand! We got there fairly early to be able to play before it got too hot! Well, things weren't quite as we expected. It was a tad bit overcast upon our arrival which was fine for us since we really didn't want to be out there baking. This was Madison's first visit to the beach this year...how quickly the summer goes by. She took to the water quickly this year and wanted daddy to take her further into the water for more and bigger waves. That silly girl! Here she is playing in a pool of water just before the break. You can see the dark clouds rolling in behind her.

We got to enjoy about 45 minutes before the wind picked up and it felt like the temperature dropped 15 degrees in a two minute timeframe! The wind was throwing sand everywhere!!! I had Madison wrapped up in a towel to protect her from the sandblasting. We waited it out thinking it would eventually blow over but after about 30 minutes we gave in and went home :-(

After all that excitement on Friday, we took it a little slower on Saturday. The rain was still hit or miss in our area so we decided to engage in an inside activity. We took Madison to the NC Museum of History where she made a small ornament and got to play in a quiet area of the museum.

There were a few things we needed to shop for on Sunday, so while we were out, we stopped to have Mongolian BBQ. This was a first for Madison and I wasn't sure how she was going to do. I should have known with her and food it wasn't going to be that difficult!  Here she is trying to give chopsticks a try!

Not too shabby!  Madison had such a great time with Nana and Papa!  Thank you for such a great weekend and we hope you guys have a safe trip home tomorrow!  Love Madison. Jeff and Tiff
